I'm Here

The One Word That Holds

The noise did not stop at his front door. It followed Leo home inside his glowing phone, through the static of breaking news alerts, and in the relentless thrum of the city outside his window. His mind felt fractured — a thousand fragments of attention stolen by algorithms designed to keep him permanently outraged and perpetually tired.

Tonight, the weight of the world felt heavy enough to crush his chest. Stress wasn't just an emotion anymore; it was a physical vibration humming in his nerves.

He sat on the edge of his bed, his eyes burning from the blue light of a screen he had finally managed to drop onto the mattress. The silence of his room felt artificial, filled with the phantom echo of notifications. He felt entirely alone, yet completely crowded out by the chaos of modern existence.

In the dark, an old melody floated into his consciousness. It was a song his grandfather used to play on vinyl, a haunting tune called Nature Boy. The final line echoed in his mind like a transmission from a distant, wiser planet:

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."

Leo closed his eyes. He forced his hands to rest flat on his knees. He breathed in the cool air of the dark room, trying to pull his scattered pieces back into one place.

He needed to anchor himself. He needed a word.

The word that came to him wasn't one he expected. It was Faith.

For years, Leo had rejected that word. To him, it tasted like organised religion, strict dogmas, and old stories of a judgment sitting in the clouds. But tonight, stripped of his distractions, the word took on a different shape. It wasn't about a deity in a book. It was faith in something broader — a recognition of a universal intelligence, a field of energy that bound the stars to the trees, and the trees to his own lungs. It was the simple, profound force of love itself.

He let the word settle in his chest. Faith. Faith that the chaos on his screen was not the sum total of reality. Faith that there was a deeper, quieter current running beneath the noise of the world.

With his eyes still shut against the dark, Leo took a slow, deep breath. He let go of tomorrow's anxieties and yesterday's regrets. He spoke two words into the quiet room, a declaration to the universe and to himself:

"I'm here."

He said it again, a whisper this time. "I'm here."

Right now. In this exact moment. The present.

The phantom vibration in his nerves began to fade. The stolen pieces of his attention snapped back into place, anchoring him to the solid mattress beneath him, the rhythm of his own heart, and the vast, invisible field of life that surrounded him. The world outside hadn't changed, but Leo had. He was no longer a fragment caught in the storm. He was here, he was loved, and he was finally still.

Rest Your Hands

The static hums inside the glowing screen,

a thousand voices stealing what we feel.

They trade our focus for a digital sheen,

and make the phantom noise feel sharp and real.

But beneath the chaos runs a quiet stream —

no distant god upon a cloud of stone,

no ancient dogma or a rigid theme,

but a great force that calls us as our own.

A field of light, a universe awake,

an intelligence that binds the earth and sky.

It is the love that breathes for breathing's sake,

the deeper truth the sirens cannot buy.

So close your eyes against the roaring night,

and let the old song whisper through the dark.

To love and be loved in the present light

is all we learn to find the vital spark.

Rest your hands. Breathe out the heavy sphere.

And whisper to the silence: I am here.
